New Administrative Posts for Nine Women in Higher Education

Tami Bui was appointed associate vice president for government and community relations at California State University, Fullerton. Since 2007, she has worked for Southern California Edison, most recently as manager for corporate philanthropy.

Bui is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, where she majored in political science.

Julie Dierberger was named the Paul Sather Distinguished Director of the Service Learning Academy at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has been the coordinator of the academy’s P-16 Initiative since 2010.The academy offers 2,000 courses on service learning to members of nonprofit organizations and community groups.

Dierberger holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Angela Harrington was promoted to vice president for communications and external relations at Berkeley College. She joined the staff at the college in 2013 and has been serving as an assistant vice president for communications and external relations. Earlier, Harrington was chief community relations officer at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey.

Harrington is a graduate of Rutgers University and holds a master’s degree in business management and organizational development from Capella University.

Barbee Oakes was appointed chief diversity officer at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, effective September 1. She has been serving as chief diversity officer and assistant provost for diversity and inclusion at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. Oakes holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Wake Forest University. She earned a Ph.D. in exercise physiology and nutrition from the University of Tennessee.

Hannah Adams Ingram was appointed director of religious life and college chaplain at Franklin College in Indiana. She has been serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver.

Dr. Ingram is a graduate of Anderson University in Indiana. She holds a master’s degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta and a Ph.D. in religion and psychological studies from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

Elaine L. Westbrooks was appointed University Librarian and vice provost for university libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been serving as associate university librarian for research at the University of Michigan.

Westbrooks holds a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Lisa Marotz was named director of McCrory Gardens at South Dakota State University. She served as interim director during the 2016-17 academic year. The Gardens was established in 1965 to support horticultural research and teaching at the university.

Marotz is a 1989 graduate of the South Dakota State University.

Nsombi B. Ricketts is the new assistant provost for diversity and inclusion at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was the assistant dean for diversity and inclusion for the university’s Graduate School.

Ricketts is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she majored in education and social policy. She holds an MBA in marketing, strategy, and leadership from Emory University in Atlanta.

Suzanne Tannenbaum was named director of public safety at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Since 2014, she has been a public safety officer at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Earlier, she was director of campus safety at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon.

Tannenbaum is a graduate of Southern Oregon University in Ashland, where she majored in criminology.
