Larissa Ruiz Baia Appointed Interim President of Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, New Hampshire

The new interim president of Lakes Region Community CollegeThe board of trustees of the Community College System of New Hampshire has selected Larissa Ruiz Baia as interim president of Lakes Region Community College in Laconia. The college enrolls nearly 1,200 students. Women are 52 percent of the student body.

Since 2012, Dr. Baia has served as vice president for student services and enrollment management at the college. Earlier, she was associate vice president for enrollment management at Manchester Community College in New Hampshire.

Dr. Baia is a native of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. She is a graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where she majored in economics. She holds a master’s degree in Latin American studies and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Florida.

Dr. Baia will serve as interim president for a term of one-year while a search is conducted to find a permanent president.
