Princeton University Press Names Its Next Director

Princeton University PressChristie Henry has been appointed the next director of the Princeton University Press, effective September 1. Princeton University Press is an independent publisher but 11 of the 17 members of the board of trustees must have ties to the university. The press was funded in 1905 and publishes an average of 230 titles each year. It has offices in Princeton, New Jersey and Oxford, England.

Henry has been serving as editorial director for sciences, social sciences, and reference at the University of Chicago Press. She joined the University of Chicago Press in 1993 as an editorial assistant. She has served in her current position since 2008. Henry is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

In accepting the appointment, Henry said “Princeton University Press has been an inspiration to me for the entirety of my publishing career and my life as a reader. Bound into its imprint is a known excellence that sets standards in all niches of the publishing ecosystem, and which is owed to a staff and to authors of incredible creativity and talent.”
