Four Women Promoted to Full Professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine

The School of Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit has announced that it has promoted 12 faculty members to the rank of full professor. Four of these promotions went to women.

 Jinping Xu is a professor of family medicine and public health sciences. She earned a master’s degree and a medical doctorate at Shandong Medical University in China. Dr. Xu also holds a master’s degree in clinical research design and statistics from the University of Michigan. Dr. Xu’s research interests include primary care, cancer control and prevention, and helping patients make more informed decisions.

Diane Levine was promoted to full professor of internal medicine. Dr. Levine is a 1982 graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine. She has won the Wayne State University President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. her research interests include geriatrics.

Susan Eggly was promoted to professor of pathology. Dr. Eggly joined the faculty at the university in 1987 as a lecturer in the English department. She joined the medical school faculty in 1993 and was promoted to associate professor in 2010. Dr. Eggly holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, a master’s degree in linguistics, and a Ph.D. in communication sciences, all from Wayne State University.

Girija Natarajan was appointed a full professor of pediatrics. She also serves as co-chief of the division of neonatology at the medical school. Dr. Natarajan received her medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India.
