Kay Kimball to Lead the Machias Campus of the University of Maine

The board of trustees of the University of Maine System has announced that Kay Kimball will serve as executive dean and chief academic and operations officer for the Machias campus of the University of Maine. The board had earlier decided to streamline the administration by partnering the campus with the flagship campus at Orono. Susan J. Hunter will serve as president of both campuses. Sue Huseman, who has been serving as interim president of the Machias campus, will retire on June 30.

The Machias campus in northeastern Maine, enrolls about 800 students. Women are two thirds of the student body.

Dr. Kimball has been serving as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at the Machias campus of University of Maine. She joined the faculty at the university in 1999 as an assistant professor of history. In 2013, Dr. Kimball was named assistant provost for academic services.

Dr. Kimball holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. in history from Emory University in Atlanta.
