Margee Ensign Appointed President of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania

The new president of Dickinson CollegeThe board of trustees of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has chosen Margee Ensign as the educational institution’s 29th president. Dickinson College, located just west of the state capitol in Harrisburg, was founded in 1783. It enrolls about 2,400 students. Women make up 58 percent of the student body.

For the past seven years, Dr. Ensign has served as president of the American University of Nigeria in Yola. Before going to Africa, she served as dean of the School of International Studies and associate provost for international initiatives at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Earlier in her career, Dr. Ensign served on the faculty and directed the international political economy program at Columbia University in New York City and was a professor of international development at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Dr. Ensign is the co-author of Rwanda: History and Hope (University Press of American, 2009) and the author of Behavior of Private Bank Lending to Developing Countries (Routledge, 2011).

Dr. Ensign is a graduate of New College in Sarasota, Florida. She earned a Ph.D. in international political economy from the University of Maryland.
