Bryn Mawr College Scholar Honored for Her Book on the Tower of Winds in Athens

Pamela Webb, a research associate in the department of classical and Near Eastern archaeology at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, has been selected to receive the John Frederick Lewis Award from the American Philosophical Society. The award honors the author of the best book published by the society during a particular calendar year.

Dr. Webb was honored for her book The Tower of the Winds in Athens – Greeks, Romans, Christians and Muslims: Two Millennia of Continual Use.

From 2004 to 2008, Dr. Webb served as visiting associate professor in the department of classical and Near Eastern archaeology at Bryn Mawr. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College.
