In Memoriam: Vivien Casagrande, 1942-2017

Vivien CasagrandeVivien Casagrande, a professor of neuroscience at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, died at her home on January 21. She was 74 years old.

Dr. Casagrande joined the faculty at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1975. She was promoted to full professor in 1986. She also served as an investigator in the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and the Vanderbilt Brain Institute. Professor Casagrande was a past president of the Cajal Club, the nation’s oldest neuroscience society. She also served as president of the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Society for Neuroscience.

A native of Belmont, Massachusetts, Professor Casagrande was a graduate of the University of Colorado. She held a Ph.D. in physiology psychology from Duke University.
