Two Women Are Finalists for Provost at the University of Alabama

the-university-of-alabamaThe University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa has announced a field of four candidates for the position of provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. All four candidates have recently visited campus for public presentations and a reception with members of the campus community. Two of the four candidates are women.

evans-cowleyJennifer Evans-Cowley is the vice provost for capital planning and regional campuses at Ohio State University. She also serves as a professor of city and regional planning at the university’s Knowlton School of Architecture. She joined the faculty at Ohio State in 2001. Professor Evans-Cowley holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in urban planning, and a Ph.D. in urban and regional planning, all from Texas A&M University. She also earned a master of public administration degree at the University of North Texas.

Latha RamchandLatha Ramchand is the dean of the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She also serves as a professor of finance. Dr. Ramchand joined the faculty at the business school in 1993 and was promoted to full professor in 2009. Before she became dean in 2011, Professor Ramchand was associate dean for programs and administration. Dr. Ramchand is a graduate of the University of Bombay in India, where she majored in economics. She holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Bombay and a Ph.D. in finance from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
