Flora Tydings Named Chancellor of the Tennessee Board of Regents

The Tennessee board of regents has approved the appointment of Flora Tydings as chancellor of the board of regents systems. Since July 2015, Dr. Tydings has served as president of Chattanooga Community College.

In making the appointment, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam stated that “we wanted to find the very best leader we could. I want to personally than search committee members for recommending a great candidate for chancellor.”

Before taking over as president of Chattanooga Community College, Dr. Tydings was president of Athens Technical College in Georgia from 2003 to 2015. During this period, she also served as interim president for Central Georgia Technical College in Macon and Sandersville Technical College. Earlier, she was vice president for academic affairs at Central Georgia Technical College.

Dr, Tydings is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. She holds a master’s degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and a doctorate in occupational studies from the University of Georgia.
