Two Women Scholars Chosen to Lead National Organizations

bozenna-photoBozenna Pasik-Duncan, professor of mathematics at the University of Kansas, was chosen as the 2017 Global Chair of the Women in Engineering Committee of the Institute of Engineering and Electronics Engineers. She will lead the world’s largest professional organization supporting women in science and engineering with more than 18,000 members in 40 countries around the world. Professor Pasik-Duncan is a native of Poland. She holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Warsaw and two doctoral degrees in mathematics from the Warsaw School of Economics.

kachnic_lisa-mugLisa Kachnic, chair of the department of radiation oncology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, was elected president of the American Board of Radiology. The board, established in 1934, certifies radiologists by ensuring they have acquired and demonstrated “the knowledge, skill and understanding necessary for the practice of diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.” Dr. Kachnic is a graduate of Boston College and her medical degree at Tufts University.
