A Change in Leadership at the College of New Rochelle in New York

Judith Huntington, president of the newly co-educational College of New Rochelle in New York, resigned her position on October 15. Huntington was named president of the college in 2011. She previously had served for a decade as vice president for financial affairs at the college.

The college issued a statement that read in part: “Around the beginning of the school year, the trustees were advised of significant unmet financial obligations that had accrued over a period of time. . . . These unmet financial obligations have and will continue to have a serious impact on the college’s operations.”

escribanoThe board of trustees named Dorothy Escribano as interim president. Since 2012, she has been provost at the college and earlier served as senior vice president for academic affairs. Earlier, she was an administrator and a member of the faculty of the department of languages and literature at what is now Worcester State University in Massachusetts.

Dr. Escribano is a graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she majored in Spanish and secondary education. She holds master’s degrees from Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System and the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Escribano earned a Ph.D. in Hispanic studies from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
