Three Women Scholars Appointed to Dean Positions at Major Universities

penaEmelyn dela Pena was appointed dean of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Washington University in St. Louis. She has been serving as assistant dean for student life for equity, diversity, and inclusion for undergraduates at Harvard University. She is the former director of the Women’s Center at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. dela Pena is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and earned a master’s degree at San Diego State University. She holds an educational doctorate through a joint program of the University of California, San Diego, San Diego State University, and California State University, San Marcos.

chan2Candice Chan was named dean of international admissions at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She was director of international admissions at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania.

A native of Hong Kong, Chan is a graduate of Widener University and earned an MBA at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mary Corliss Pearl was named dean of the William E. Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York. She has been serving as interim dean since January. Earlier, she was dean and administrative vice president at the Southampton campus of Stony Brook University of the State University of New York System.

Dr. Pearl hold bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
