Six Women Join the Faculty at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania

Lafayette CollegeLafayette College, the highly rated liberal arts college in Easton, Pennsylvania, has announced that there are 12 new faculty members on campus this fall. Six of the new hires are women.

gordon_melissaMelissa Gordon is a new assistant professor of chemical engineering. She is a 2011 summa cum laude graduate of Lafayette College. She has been serving as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Delaware while completing her Ph.D. in chemical and biomolecular engineering.

groo_katherineKatherine Groo is an assistant professor of film and media studies. She was the director of the Film and Visual Culture program at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Dr. Groo is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Dr. Groo is the author of the forthcoming book Bad Film Histories: Ethnography and the Early Archive (University of Minnesota Press, 2017).

guisinger_amyAmy Guisinger was named an assistant professor of economics. She has worked as a visiting scholar in the research division at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and a research officer at the International Monetary Fund. Dr. Guisinger recently earned her Ph.D. in economics at George Washington University.

salas_landa_monicaMonica Salas Landa is an assistant professor of anthropology and sociology at the college. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. Dr. Salas Landa is a graduate of Universidad de las Americas in Puebla, Mexico. She holds a master’s degree in museum studies and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Cornell University.

sorelle_malloryMallory SoRelle was hired as an assistant professor in the department of government and law. She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she majored in government and sociology. Dr. SoRelle earned a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in government from Cornell University.

zhou_yingYing Zhou is an assistant professor of mathematics. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at Ohio State University. Dr. Zhou is a graduate of Fudan University in Shanghai, China, where she majored in mathematics. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Miami and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the University of Washington.
