Professor Shelly Stamp’s Book to Be Honored by the Theatre Library Association

Shelly StampShelly Stamp, a professor of film and digital media at the University of California, Santa Cruz has been selected to receive the 2015 Book Award from the Theatre Library Association. The award honors the best English-language book on theatre, film, or broadcasting.

StampBookProfessor Stamp is being honored for her book Lois Weber in Early Hollywood (University of California Press, 2015). Weber was a screenwriter, actress, and director in the early days of the film industry in California. Professor Stamp will be honored for her book at a ceremony in New York City this October.

Dr. Stamp is the founding editor of Feminist Media Histories: An International Journal. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cinema studies from New York University. An earlier book authored by Professor Stamp is Movie-Struck Girls: Women and Motion Picture Culture After the Nickelodeon (Princeton University Press, 2000).
