In Memoriam: Penelope Trickett, 1943-2016

Penelope TrickettPenelope Trickett, the David Lawrence Stein/Violet Goldberg Sachs Professor of Mental Health in the School of Social Work at the University of Southern California, died last month in San Pedro, California, from complications of heart failure. She was 73 years old.

A native of New York, Professor Trickett grew up in Washington, D.C. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and went on to complete a Ph.D. from the New School in New York City.

Dr. Trickett began her career as a researcher in the psychology faculty at Yale University before becoming a senior fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She joined the faculty at the University of Southern California School of Social Work in 1989.
