Bucknell University Appoints Four Women to Endowed Professorships

bucknellBucknell University, the highly rated liberal arts institution in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, has announced the appointment of seven scholars to endowed professorships. Four of the appointments went to women.

CollierBethanyMnBethany J. Collier was named the Ellen P. Williams Professor of Music. Her expertise is in Indonesian music. Professor Collier joined the Bucknell faculty in 2008. She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Collier holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in musicology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

Bucknell University, Shara McCallumShara McCallum was appointed the Margaret Hollingshead Ley Professor in Poetry and Creative Writing in the department of English. She also serves as the director of the Stadler Center for Poetry. A native of Jamaica, Professor McCallum is the author of several poetry collections including The Face of Water: New and Selected Poems (Peepal Tree Press, 2011). She holds a Ph.D. from Binghamton University of the State University of New York System.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJanice Traflet was named the Howard I. Scott Professor of Management at Bucknell. She is a business historian and is the author of A Nation of Small Shareholders: Marketing Wall Street After World War II (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2013). Dr Traflet holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and an MBA from Seton Hall University in New Jersey and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City.

TregoKristineMainKristine Trego was appointed to the National Endowment for Humanities Chair. She is a social historian and nautical archeologist. Since 2000, she was worked with the Institute of Nautical Archaeology to explore ancient Greek and Roman shipwrecks of the coast of Turkey. Professor Trego holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
