The New Executive Director of the American Mathematical Society

robertsCatherine Roberts, a professor of mathematics at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, has been named executive director of the American Mathematical Society. The organization, based in Providence, Rhode Island, is dedicated to furthering the interests of mathematical research, scholarship, and education.

Dr. Roberts served as chair of the department of mathematics and computer science at the College of the Holy Cross from 2009 to 2015. She will work full-time for the American Mathematical Society but will continue advising and mentoring students she has had at Holy Cross.

Professor Roberts is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where she double majored in mathematics and art history. She holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics and engineering sciences from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
