Simmons College Extends the Contract of President Helen G. Drinan

drinanThe board of trustees of Simmons College in Boston has extended the contract of President Helen G. Drinan for three years through June 2019. Drinan was named the eighth president of Simmons College in 2008.

Earlier, Drinan served a chair of the board of trustees of Simmons College. She also served as senior vice president of human resources at Caritas Christi Health Care and as president and CEO of the Society of Human Resources Management, a professional organization with the largest human resource membership in the world.

After the board extended her contract, President Drinan said “I am grateful to the Board for entrusting the stewardship of this remarkable institution to me for another three years. We have much to be proud of over the last eight years, and with momentum on our side I am confident in our future and in our ability to take our rightful place as a national leader in higher education.”

Drinan is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She holds an MBA and a master of library and information science degree from Simmons College. In 2014, President Drinan was diagnosed with breast cancer and she decided to wage her personal battle in the public eye in order to raise awareness about the value of early detection.
