Ohio State University Partners With the Women’s Heart Alliance

Women's Heart AllianceOhio State University has launched a new partnership with the Women’s Heart Alliance to conduct research on heart disease, the No. 1 cause of mortality of women in the United States.

Under the partnership, the university and the alliance will screen and educate college-age women about the risks of heart disease and steps for preventing it. The partnership will also undertake educational programs for men to inform them of the risks for their mothers, sisters, wives, and girlfriends.

In addition, the partnership will hold campus-wide group physical activities to promote cardiovascular health and a Ohio State football game in October will be dedicated to heart health. A mobile health app will be developed to provide women with information on heart health.

British Robinson, CEO of the Women’s Heart Alliance, stated that “heart disease is deadly, but it’s also largely preventable. Through screening and educating women earlier in life about risk factors for heart disease, we can help reduce heart disease in women, or prevent it altogether.”
