Four Women Scholars Who Have Been Appointed to University Dean Positions

Knutson-Miller-200Kari Knutson Miller was named dean of University Extended Education at California State University, Fullerton. She will also hold the title of associate vice president of international programs and global engagement. Dr. Knutson Miller joined the faculty at the university in 1999 and is a professor of child and adolescent studies.

Professor Knutson Miller hold a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology at Arizona State University.

Karen Richardson was named dean of undergraduate admissions and enrollment management at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She has been serving as director of graduate admissions at the university. Richardson joined the staff at the university in 2008 as director of diversity recruitment.

Richardson is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

bilekMary Lu Bilek has been selected as the next dean of the School of Law at the City University of New York. She will begin her new job on August 15. She has been serving as dean of the University of Massachusetts School of Law. Earlier in her career, she was a professor at the CUNY law school.

Dean Bilek is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

JennyJonesPhDJenny L. Jones was appointed dean of the Whitney M. Young Jr. School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia, effective July 25. Dr. Jones has been serving as chair of the department of social work at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Dr. Jones is a graduate of Valdosta State University in Georgia, where she majored in psychology. She earned a master of social work degree from California State University, Long Beach and a Ph.D. in social work from Clark Atlanta University.
