Andrea Luxton Will Be the Next President of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan

Andrea Luxton is the Next President of Andrews UniversityThe board of trustees of Andrews University, the flagship educational institution of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs, Michigan, has announced that Andrea Luxton will be the university’s next president. She will join three other women as presidents of higher educational institutions affiliated with the church.

Andrews University was founded in 1874 at Battle Creek College. Today, the university enrolls about 1,800 undergraduate students and 1,600 graduate students. Women are 56 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Since 2010, Dr. Luxton has served as provost of Andrews University. Peviously, she was president of what is now Burman University in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. Earlier, she served as president of Newbold College of Higher Education in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Luxton holds a bachelor’s degree in theology and English from Newbold College. She earned a master’s degree in English from Andrews University and a Ph.D. in English from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
