Elizabeth L. Paul Named the 16th President of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio

Elizabeth Paul named the new president of Capital UniversityThe board of trustees of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, has named Elizabeth L. Paul as the educational institution’s 16th president. She will take office on July 1. Capital University enrolls about 2,700 undergraduate students and 750 graduate students. Women make up 58 percent of the undergraduate student body.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Paul said, “Capital is an exemplar of the kind of transformative education our nation requires to thrive in the future. Its emphasis and clarity of mission are among the most compelling aspects of this opportunity.”

Dr. Paul currently serves as executive vice president and provost at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. She has served as provost since 2009. She is also a tenured full professor of psychology at the university. From 1992 to 2009, Dr. Paul served on the faculty at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. She is past president of the Council on Undergraduate Research.

Dr. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in personality psychology from Boston University in Massachusetts.
