Nine Women Taking on New Administrative Duties at American Universities

jennifercohenJennifer Cohen was named interim athletics director at the University of Washington. She has been serving as senior associate athletics director. She is the head of the department’s development programs and oversees the football and baseball programs. She has been on the staff at the university for 15 years.

Cohen is a graduate od San Diego State University and holds a master’s degree in physical education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

main-jasminaJasmina Besirevic-Regan was appointed assistant dean of academic affairs in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale University, effective June 30. Since 2004, she has served as dean of Trumbull College on the Yale campus.

Dr. Besirevic-Regan is a graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology at Yale University.

Jean HertzmanJean Hertzman is the new director of the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management at New Mexico State University. She was an associate professor and director of enrollment management at the College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Dr. Hertzman is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She holds a master’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

gollerLeigh Goller was named the next executive director of the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She will take office on July 1. She currently serves as director of university audit in the office.

Goller is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She earned a master’s degree in liberal studies at Duke.

Powell-Tracy-1_0Tracy Powell is the new associate vice president for marketing at Pennsylvania State University. She was vice president of distribution marketing for A+E Networks.

Powell is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and attended the cable executive management program at Harvard Business School.

Burke_BridgetBridget Burke was named director of the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming. The center is the repository of manuscripts collections, rare books, and the university archives. Previously, Burke was dean of libraries at North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Burke holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of library and information science degree from the University of Wisconsin. She also earned a master’s degree in American history from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

GarrettHelen Garrett was appointed university registrar and chief of enrollment management services at the University of Washington. She was dean of enrollment management systems at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.

Garrett holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in college and university administration from Michigan State University. She is currently completing work on an educational doctorate at Oregon State University.

KimbroughAdria N. Kimbrough was named pre-law adviser in the Center for Law and Public Interest at Dillard University in New Orleans. She has served as a volunteer at the center for the past three years.

A native of Mobile, Kimbrough is a graduate of Talladega College in Alabama, where she majored in history. She earned her law degree at the University of Cincinnati.

jennifercunninghamJennifer Cunningham is the new assistant vice president for alumni engagement at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Since 2010, she was senior director of metrics and marketing in the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development at Cornell University.

Cunningham is a graduate of Cornell University, where she majored in agricultural economics and marketing.
