Dixie Lee Thompson Is a Finalist for Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Tennessee

University-Of-Tennessee-LogoThe University of Tennessee in Knoxville has announced three finalists for the position of vice provost and dean of the Graduate School. The finalists will all participate in public forums on the Knoxville campus later this month. All three candidates are currently professors at the university. One is a woman.

Dixie-ThompsonDixie Lee Thompson is a professor of kinesiology at the University of Tennessee. Since 2012, she has also served as associate dean for research and academic affairs in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. Professor Thompson joined the faculty at the university in 1994. She was promoted to associate professor in 1998 and to full professor in 2006. Before coming to Knoxville, Professor Thompson taught at Missouri State University in Springfield and Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Dr. Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a Ph.D. in exercise physiology at the University of Virginia.
