Three Women Appointed to Dean Positions at State Universities

TTaylorTraki L. Taylor was named dean of the College of Education at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. Dr. Taylor will being her new job in January. Dr. Taylor has been serving as dean and professor in the College of Education at Bowie State University in Maryland. Earlier in her career, she was associate dean in the School of Education and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Professor Taylor is a graduate of Coppin State University in Baltimore, where she majored in special education. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.

goluboffRisa L. Goluboff was appointed the 12th dean of the University of Virginia School of Law. The appointment is effective July 1, 2016. She currently serves as the John Allan Love Professor of Law and professor of history at the university. Professor Goluboff is the author of the award-winning book The Lost Promise of Civil Rights (Harvard University Press, 2007).

Dr. Goluboff is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in history and sociology. She earned her law degree at Yale and also holds a Ph.D. in history from Princeton University.

Guerra_Nancy_Nancy Guerra will be the next dean of the School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine. She will begin her role as dean on June 1. She currently serves as professor of psychological and brain sciences at the University of Delaware.

Dr. Guerra is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. in human development and psychology from Harvard University.
