Doctoral Student at West Virginia University Wins the Virtuoso International Music Competition

miram leeMirim Lee, a student in the doctor of musical arts program at West Virginia University, won the Grand Prize in the woodwind division of the Virtuoso International Music Competition. An official of the competition saw a video of Lee performing the flute on YouTube and invited her to enter the competition. She decided to do so and was awarded the Grand Prize. As a result, Lee will travel to Paris to perform at the Opera Bastille on December 18.

Lee is a native of Seoul, South Korea. She earned a bachelor’s degree at the Sofia National Music Academy in Bulgaria. After earning her doctorate, Lee plans on a career as a concert soloist and hopes to teach flute at a major university.
