New Administration Posts for 10 Women in Higher Education

hobson-papeKarri Hobson-Pape was named vice president for marketing and communication at the University of Georgia. She is the co-founder and partner at Inflexion Point Marketing Group in Atlanta. She will begin her duties at the university on January 1.

Hobson-Pape is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned an MBA at Emory University in Atlanta. She is the author of Images of America: Virginia-Highland (Arcadia Publishing, 2011).

Buchwald-webDedra Buchwald was named director of the Initiative for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (REACH) at Washington State University Health Sciences in Spokane. Dr. Buchwald was a professor of epidemiology and medicine at the University of Washington.

Dr. Buchwald earned her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego.

joanne-destefanoJoanne DeStefano was promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Since 2007, she has served as vice president for finance at the university.

DeStefano holds an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell.

Cameron-Taylor-15AB-F009Cameron Taylor was appointed vice president for government and community affairs at Emory University in Atlanta. She joined the staff at Emory in 2003 as director of federal affairs. She has been, and will continue to be, based in Washington, D.C.

Taylor is a graduate of Emory University and holds a master’s degree in resource policy and administration from the University of Michigan.

Stuopis-Cecilia_0Cecilia Warpinski Stuopis was named director of MIT Medical. She has been serving as vice president and executive medical director for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system in New Hampshire.

Dr. Stuopis is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she majored in aeronautics and astronautics. She earned her medical degree at the University of Nevada.

colagiuriElizabeth Colagiuri was promoted to deputy dean of the college at Princeton University in New Jersey. Since 2011, she has been associate dean of the college.

Colagiuri is a 1992 graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she majored in government. She holds a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University.

Terra V. WinterTerra V. Winter is the new associate vice president for development in the Office of University Advancement at New Mexico State University. She has been serving as assistant dean for donor development and alumni relations for the university’s College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences.

Winter holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master of public health degree from New Mexico State University. She currently is studying for a doctorate in management and educational leadership administration at the university.

Genese-LavalaisGenese Lavalais was promoted to senior woman administration and associate athletics director at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Since October 2014, she has served as the assistant athletics director for academics. Earlier, she was director of academic enhancement at Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Lavalais is a graduate of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. She holds a master’s degree in sports administration from Grambling State University.

MarkarianJane Markarian was named manager for special projects and outreach in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was the manager of the Integrated Concentration in Sciences program at the university.

Markarian is a graduate of the University of Chicago and holds a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

DurhamElise Durham was named assistant vice president of communications, media relations, and marketing at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. For the past 14 years, she has served on the media relations staff at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Durham, who received two Emmy Awards for her work as a television journalist, is a 1991 graduate of Florida A&M University.
