Clemson University Scholar Is the New Leader of the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners

scharkoPatty B. Scharko, a professor of animal and veterinary sciences and a field and extension veterinarian at Clemson University in South Carolina, is the new leader of the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners. The organization provides services to veterinarians who work with sheep, goats, elk, deer, and other small ruminants. The association is headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama.

Before coming to Clemson University in 2008, for 13 years Dr. Scharko was an extension veterinarian for the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Scharko earned a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Georgia. She also holds a master of public health degree from the University of North Carolina.
