One Woman Among Four Finalists to Lead the University of Georgia-Griffin

The University of Georgia has announced a field of four finalists for the position of director of the university’s Griffin campus. Established as the Georgia Experiment Station in 1888 to conduct agricultural research, the UGA-Griffin campus now offers eight undergraduate degree programs and three graduate degree programs.

The person selected to lead the Griffin campus will also hold the title of assistant provost at the university. All candidates have, or will soon, visit campus for a series of interviews and presentations. One of the four finalists is a woman.

Luanne Lohr is the national program lead for economics at the United States Forest Service. She has served in this post since October 2014. Previously, Dr. Lohr was a professor of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Georgia. At the U.S. Forest Service, Dr. Lohr leads the department’s economics research on such topics at ecosystem valuation, climate change, wildfire management, and outdoor recreation.

Dr. Lohr is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she double majored in economics and agronomy. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of California, Davis.
