In Memoriam: Julie Lindemann, 1957-2015

Julie-Lindemann-HR-headshot-1Julie Lindermann, an associate professor of art at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, died on August 25. She was 57 years old and had suffered from cancer.

Professor Lindermann, shared a tenure-track appointment with her artist collaborator John Shimon. The two photographic artists came to Lawrence University in 2000 as visiting instructors and were appointed to a shared tenure-track faculty position in 2005. Lindermann and Shimon taught all of their classes together. The pair co-authored five books including Season’s Gleamings: The Art of the Aluminum Christmas Tree (Melcher Media, 2004).

Lindermann grew up on a farm in Osmond, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and held a master’s degree in social documentary photography from Illinois State University.
