A Quartet of Women Appointed to Dean Posts at American Universities

perrotsSue Day-Perroots was appointed dean of the University College and associate provost for undergraduate academic affairs at West Virginia University. Dr. Day-Perroots has been at West Virginia University since 1978 when she was a lecturer in the College of Education and Human Services.

Dr. Day-Perroots is a graduate of Fairmont State College in West Virginia. She holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from West Virginia University.

KurthAnn Kurth will be the next dean of the Yale School of Nursing. She will take office on January 1. She currently serves as professor of nursing, medicine, and public health at New York University.

Dr. Kurth is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from Yale University, a master of public health degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Washington.

Elizabeth-DooleyElizabeth A. Dooley was appointed the inaugural dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She will also hold the title of vice provost of teaching and learning at the university. Since 2009 Dr. Dooley has been associate provost for undergraduate academic affairs at West Virginia University.

Dr. Dooley is a graduate of Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in special education and a doctorate in educational leadership from West Virginia University.

ZubinCatherine Zublin was named interim dean of the College of Arts & Humanities at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. She has been serving as a professor of theater and associate dean. Professor Zublin has been with Weber State University for 30 years.

Professor Zublin is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she majored in communication. She holds master of fine arts degree in costume design from Indiana University.
