Seven Women Promoted to Full Professor at the University of Delaware

delaware-university-64The University of Delaware has announced the promotion of 18 faculty members to the rank of full professor. Of the 18 new full professors, seven are women.

dallen-lgDeborah Allen is a professor in the department of biological sciences. She joined the faculty at the university in 1992 and her research is focused on developing curriculum for science courses in both K-12 and college-level education. A graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, Dr. Allen earned a Ph.D. at the University of Delaware.

Jaehee_JungJaehee Jung was promoted to full professor of fashion and apparel studies. She has been on the faculty at the university since 2008. Dr. Jung was valedictorian of her class at University of Suwon in Korea. She holds a master’s degree in education from Chicago State University and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in consumer behavior from Ohio State University.

Everard_AndreaAndrea Everard was appointed full professor of accounting and management information systems. Professor Everard is a graduate of the University of Montreal in Canada. She holds a second bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Concordia University in Montreal and a Ph.D. in management information systems from the University of Pittsburgh.

getchellNancy Getchell was named professor of kinesiology and applied physiology in the College of Health Sciences. She joined the faculty in 2001 after teaching at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Professor Getchell is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jung-Youn-LeeJung-Youn Lee was promoted to professor of plant and soil sciences. Her research is focused on how plant cells communicate through plasmodesmata. Dr. Lee is a graduate of Korea University in Seoul, where she majored in horticultural sciences. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in plant molecular and cell biology at the University of Florida.

anna-fotoAnna Papafragou was is a new full professor of psychological and brain sciences. She is the director of the Language and Cognition Laboratory at the university. Professor Papafragou joined the faculty at the University of Delaware in 2004. She is a graduate of the University of Athens in Greece and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in linguistics from University College London.

Heidi Sarver was appointed professor of music. She has been on the university’s faculty since 1995 and is co-director of the 300-member Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band and co-conductor of the university’s Symphonic Band. Professor Sarver holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Massachusetts.
