Political Scientist at the University of Nebraska Omaha Wins Book Award

Lana Obradovic, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, has won the Best Book Award from the European Research Group on Military and Society. The organization represents social scientists who study the relationship between the military and society.

NATO BookDr. Obradovic was honored for her book Gender Integration in NATO Military Forces: Cross-National Analysis (Ashgate Publishing, 2014). The book examines the status of women in the military of 24 NATO countries.

A native of Bosnia, Dr. Obradovic came to the United States at the age of 17 as a war refugee. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She holds a master’s degree from St. John’s University in New York and a Ph.D. in political science from the City University of New York. Before joining the faculty at the University of  Nebraska Omaha, Dr. Obradovic taught at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, St. John’s University, Hunter College and Queens College in New York City, and Yonsei University in South Korea.
