Paula Mabee Named Director of the National Science Foundation’s Division of Environmental Biology

mabeePaula Mabee, a professor of biology at the University of South Dakota, has accepted an appointment to serve at director of the Division of Environmental Biology at the National Science Foundation. In this position, Dr. Mabee will supervise program officers who review about 3,000 grant proposals in environmental biology each year. Her appointment will last from one to four years and she will reside in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area for the duration of her appointment. But she will remain on the faculty at the university.

Professor Mabee is a graduate of Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she double majored in biology and religion. She earned a Ph.D. in zoology at Duke University in Durham North Carolina.
