The New President of the American Society for Public Administration

Maria Aristigueta - SPAA DirectorMaria Aristigueta is the new president of the American Society for Public Administration. The organization was founded in 1939 and has about 8,000 members. The society publishes the journal Public Administration Review.

Dr. Aristigueta is the Charles P. Messick Professor of Public Administration at the University of Delaware. For the past six years she has served as the director of the School of Public and Policy Administration at the university. She has taken a leave of absence from that post while she completes her term as president of the American Society for Public Administration.

Dr. Aristigueta holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master of public administration degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She earned a doctorate in public administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
