New University Administrative Posts for Seven Women

walshAmanda Walsh was named Title IX coordinator at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She is the first full-time Title IX coordinator at the university. Walsh has been serving as a staff attorney for the Victim Rights Law Center, a nonprofit organization in Boston.

Walsh is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and the Roger Williams School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Laura-SpitzLaura Spitz was appointed interim vice provost for international affairs at Cornell University, effective at the end of the academic year. She is currently the associate dean for international affairs and executive director of the Clarke Center for International and Comparative Legal Studies at Cornell Law School.

Dr. Spitz is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she majored in history. She holds a law degree from the University of British Columbia and a doctor of science of law from Cornell University.

RamonataylorRamona L. Taylor was appointed general counsel at Virginia State University. She was an assistant attorney general in the education division for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Earlier she was an assistant city attorney for the city of Richmond.

Taylor is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she majored in political science. She earned a law degree at the University of Richmond.

Campus_042111Lynn Okagaki was named interim deputy provost for academic affairs at the University of Delaware. She has been serving as dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the university.

Prior to joining the staff at the University of Delaware, Dr. Okagaki was commissioner for education research at the U.S. Department of Education. She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Cornell University.

Raquel-AlexanderRaquel Alexander was appointed associate dean of the Williams School of Commerce at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. She is an associate professor of accounting at the university.

Dr. Alexander joined the faculty at Washington and Lee University in 2012. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

zabrowskiShelley Zaborowski was named executive director of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association. She has been serving as the interim director and has been on the staff of the association for 18 years.

Zabrorowski holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Nebraska.

tranterElizabeth Tranter was promoted to associate vice president for research planning at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. For the past seven years, she has been chief of staff in the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Tranter is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. She hold a master’s degree in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
