Martha Nussbaum Chosen to Receive the Inamori Ethics Prize

Nussbaum, the Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, has been selected to receive the Inamori Ethics Prize from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The prize has been awarded annually since 2008 to an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to ethical leadership on the global stage. She will be presented with the award in October.

inamori_medalShannon French, director of the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve, stated that Professor Nussbaum’s “brilliant ‘capabilities approach’ has transformed the global conversation about human rights and what it means to treat other humans ethically.”

Professor Nussbaum is a graduate of New York University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
