Three Women Announce They Are Leaving Their University Posts

buckleySusan Buckley, vice president of human resources at the University of Iowa, has announced that she will retire on June 30. Buckley has been with the Human Resources Office at the university for 20 years and was promoted to vice president in 2009.

Buckley also served as director of the Women’s Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa and was co-founder of the Iowa Women’s Foundation.

neffEmily Ballew Neff, the director and chief curator of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, announced that she is stepping down from her post to become the executive director of the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Dr. Neff also serves as president of the Association of Art Museum Curators.

Dr. Neff is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master’s degree from Rice University in Houston and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

flemingCynthia Griggs Fleming has retired after 32 years on the faculty of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She was the first Black woman faculty member in the department of history at the university.

Professor Fleming was the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in history at Duke University.
