New Administrative Posts for Seven Women in Higher Education

CynthiaHokeCynthia Hoke was appointed senior adviser and special assistant to the president at Albany State University in Georgia. For the past 11 years, she has been director of the news service at the University of Georgia.

Hoke is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, where she majored in journalism. She holds a master of public administration degree from Albany State University.

ruth_ann_swaneyRuth Ann Swaney was named coordinator of the Native American Natural Resource Program in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana.

Swaney holds a master’s degree in biology and ecology from the University of Montana and is currently working toward a doctorate in conservation.

hermannJennifer J. Herrmann was promoted to assistant dean of new students in the Griff Center for Academic Engagement at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. A member of the college’s administration since 2006, Herrmann most recently served as associate director of disability support services.

Herrmann is a graduate of Fredonia State College of the State University of New York System. She earned a master’s degree in counselor education and human services from Canisius College.

cheslerBarbara A. Chesler was named vice president for academic affairs at Caldwell University in New Jersey. She has served as dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at Columbus State University in Georgia.

Dr. Chesler is a graduate of Ohio State University. She holds a master’s degree in science education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

SappVicki T. Sapp was appointed director of community and organizational development at the University of Rhode Island. She was assistant director for residential life and housing services at the University of Rochester in New York.

Sapp holds bachelor’s and master’s degree from Buffalo State College and is a doctoral candidate in higher education leadership at the University of Rochester.

RebeccaBagley_photo[1]_0Rebecca Bagley was named new vice chancellor for economic partnerships at the University of Pittsburgh. She was president and CEO of NorTech Inc. Earlier in her career, Bagley was deputy secretary in the Technology Investment Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Bagley is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

haganAlise Hagan is the new director of the Office of Institutional Assessment at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. She was an instructional designer in the Office of Distance Learning at the University.

Hagan is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in technical and professional communication from Auburn University in Alabama.
