Rice University Scholar Elected to the Turkish Academy of Sciences

Yildiz-Bayazitoglu_Web_Phot02Yildiz Bayazitoglu, who holds the Harry S. Cameron Chair in Mechanical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas, has been named an honorary member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. Professor Bayazitoglu, a native of Turkey, focuses her research on radiation and convective heat transfer and solar energy utilization design and analysis.

Dr. Bayazitoglu joined the Rice University faculty in 1977. Previously, she was an assistant professor at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.

Professor Bayazitoglu received her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Middle East Technical University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. Professor Bayazitoglu is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Thermal Science.
