Lisa Lynch to Lead Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts

lynchBrandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, announced that Lisa M. Lynch will serve as interim president of the university, beginning on July 1 when current president Frederick M. Lawrence leaves to become a senior research scholar at Yale Law School. The university, in suburban Boston, enrolls about 3,600 undergraduate students and 2,200 graduate students. Women make up 57 percent of the undergraduate student body.

This past October Dr. Lynch was named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the university. Previously, she was dean and the Maurice B. Hexter Professor of Social and Economic Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at the university. During the Clinton administration, Dr. Lynch was chief economist at the U.S. Department of Labor.

Dr. Lynch is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science in England.
