In Memoriam: Sarah Louise Hawes, 1923-2015

Sarah Louise Hawes, professor emerita of home economics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, died late last month at her home in Amherst. She was 91 years old.
A native of Ishpeming, Michigan, Hawes graduated from the Northern Michigan College of Education in Marquette. She held a master’s degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Hawes joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts in 1952 and taught there until her retirement in 1983.
