Three Women With Academic Ties Win Prestigious Awards

KMFinkKelly Montijo Fink, who has taught Spanish at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, was honored for the Best Compilation Album at the recent 15th Annual Native American Music Awards. She won the “NAMMY” for her album, “Don’t Let Me Forget.”

Fink is a 1992 graduate of Cornell College.

Hind NariHind Mari, director of the Women of Color Leadership Network at the Center for Women and Community at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst received the Wise Woman Award from the Standing Committee for Women of the American College Personnel Association.

Mari is a graduate of An-Najah University in Nablus on the West Bank. She holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of Massachusetts.

fitzgerald-katherineKatherine Fitzgerald, a professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, received the Seymour and Vivian Milstein Award for Excellence in Interferon and Cytokine Research from the International Cykotine and Interferon Society. She was honored at the society’s annual convention in Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Fitzgerald joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts in 2002. She is a graduate of University College Cork in Ireland and holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin.
