New Women Deans at Five Colleges and Universities

VIRGINIA-ROACHVirginia Roach has been named dean of the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University in New York. Since 2011, Dr. Roach has been serving as dean of the Graduate School of Education at the Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Previously, she was an associate professor of education at George Washington University. Dr. Roach will begin her duties at Fordham this fall.

Dr. Roach is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she majored in special and elementary education. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Johns Hopkins University and an educational doctorate from Teachers College at Columbia University.

blakeTiffani Blake was promoted to dean of students at the College of New Rochelle in New York. She has been serving as special assistant to the president for mission and board relations. She formerly served as director of student development at the college.

Blake is a graduate of the College of New Rochelle. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Baruch College of the City University of New York and a second master’s degree in education from Teachers College of Columbia University.

Leslie JohnsonLeslie Johnson was appointed dean of the Cartersville campus of Georgia Highlands College. She has served as interim dean for the past year. Johnson is an associate professor of communication at the college.

Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in speech communications from the University of Georgia.

pam_jeffriesPamela R. Jeffries was selected to be the next dean of the George Washington University School of Nursing. She has been serving as a professor of nursing and vice provost for digital initiatives at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She will begin her new job on April 6.

Dr. Jeffries is a graduate of the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in nursing from Indiana University.

Cristen Kromm was promoted to dean of undergraduate student life at Columbia University. She has been serving as associate dean of residential life at the university. Earlier in her career, Kromm was director of college activities at Barnard College.

Kromm is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master of social work degree from New York University.
