New Administrative Positions for Five University Women

Maggie Reitz was appointed interim provost at Towson University in Maryland. Dr. Reitz has been serving as acting provost and vice president for the Division of Academic Affairs since August 21. Professor Reitz has served as chair of the department of occupational therapy at Towson. In November 2013, she named vice provost.

Dr. Reitz holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Towson University and a Ph.D. in health education from the University of Maryland.

CliattCass Cliatt was appointed vice president for communication at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She has been serving as vice president for communication at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She will begin her new job on April 1.

Cliatt is a graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

chilton photo copyElizabeth Chilton was named associate vice chancellor for research and engagement at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She has served on the faculty in the department of anthropology at the university since 2001. Previously, she taught at Harvard University for five years.

Dr. Chilton holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Smith-SaraLynSaraLyn Smith was appointed director of development for the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Languages, Linguistics, and Literature, and the library at the University of Hawaii Foundation. She was the director of development for the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

Smith is a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.

robertson_cassandraCassandra Burke Robertson was named director of the Center for Professional Ethics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland. Professor Robertson has taught at the law school for the past eight years.

Professor Robertson is a graduate of the University of Washington. She holds master’s degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and public affairs and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
