Grants or Gifts Relating to Women in Higher Education

money_bagHere is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.

CaldwellThe University of North Carolina at Wilmington received a three-year $300,000 grant from the Office on Violence Against Women of the U.S. Department of Justice. The funds will be used to develop and enhance existing programs to prevent sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on campus. The grant program will be under the direction of Rebecca Caldwell, the director of substance abuse and violence prevention and education programs at the university.

The University of Maryland at College Park received a $425,000 grant from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), a nonprofit group of defense industry interests that supports STEM education initiatives. The grant program will be used to increase interests among young women and racial minorities in computer science.
