Professor Linda Zagzebski to Give the Gifford Lectures at the University of St. Andrews

zagzebskiLinda Zagzebski, professor of philosophy at the University of Oklahoma, has been selected as the 2015 speaker for the prestigious Gifford Lectures at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The Gifford Lectures, named after Lord Gifford, a senator of the College of Justice in Scotland, were first delivered in 1888. The prestigious honor is given to a leading intellectual to encourage the public discussion of philosophy, theology, ethics, science, culture, and the connections among the disciplines.

Dr. Zagzebski serves as the George Lynn Cross Research Professor in the department of philosophy at the University of Oklahoma. Her latest book is Epistemic Authority: A Theory of Trust, Authority, and Autonomy in Belief (Oxford University Press, 2012).

Professor Zagzebski is a graduate of Stanford University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
