Five Women Named to Assistant Professor Posts at Lafayette College

Seal_of_Lafayette_CollegeLafayette College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Easton, Pennsylvania, has added nine new faculty members this fall. Five of the new faculty members are women.

Tamara-Carley-geologyTamara Carley was appointed an assistant professor of geology and environmental sciences. She has focused her research on silicic magmas with an emphasis on Icelandic volcanoes. Dr. Carley holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jessica-Carr-Religious-studiesJessica Carr was named the Berman Scholar of Jewish Studies and an assistant professor of religious studies. She was a visiting assistant professor at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Earlier, Dr. Carr as an instructor of religious studies at Indiana University. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in religious studies from Indiana University.

Melissa-Galloway-ChemistryMelissa Galloway is a new assistant professor of chemistry. She was a visiting assistant professor of Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and served as a teaching associate at the University of San Diego. Dr. Galloway is a graduate of Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Roxy-Swails-ChemistryRoxy Swails was hired as an assistant professor of chemistry. For the last two years, she has served as a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at the college. Previously, she was an assistant professor of chemistry at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. Dr. Swails is a graduate of George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, and earned a Ph.D. in organometallic chemistry from the University of Florida.

Susan-Wenze-psychologySusan Wenze was named an assistant professor of psychology. She was an assistant research professor in psychiatry and human behavior at the medical school of Brown University in Rhode Island. Dr. Wenze is the associate editor of The Behavior Therapist. She is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from American University in Washington, D.C.
