Seven Women Appointed to the Faculty at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois

Benedictine_University_1_221499Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, enrolls about 3,800 undergraduate students and 2,500 graduate students. Women make up 61 percent of the undergraduate student body on the campus, just west of the city of Chicago. The university recently announced the appointment of nine new faculty members who are on campus this fall. Seven of the nine new appointees are women.

aleinikava-1Darya Aleinikava is a new assistant professor of physics. She continues to hold an appointment as a resident associate in the chemical sciences and engineering division of the Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Aleinikava is a graduate of Belorussian State University and holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Patricia Brown was appointed assistant professor of nursing. She was director of the nursing program and interim dean of career and technical education at Morton College in Cicero, Illinois. Dr. Brown holds a doctor of nursing practice degree from Rush University in Chicago.

Deborah Jezuit is a new assistant professor in the department of nursing and health. She was director of nursing education at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. She previously was an adjunct professor at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and Benedictine University. Dr. Jezuit holds a Ph.D. frrom Rush University.

Gena Lewis was named an assistant professor of education. She was serving as a reading teacher in a West Chicago elementary school. Dr. Lewis holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate in reading and language from National Louis University in Chicago.

Kathleen Liace was appointed assistant professor in the School of Education. She was an academic support instructional coordinator at Naperville North High School in Illinois. She holds an educational doctorate in reading and language from National Louis University.

Grace Mirsky was hired as an assistant professor of computer science. She was a signal and image processing engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation. She holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Northwestern University.

shanerSarah Elizabeth Shaner is a new assistant professor of chemistry. She was a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Earlier, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Shaner is a graduate of Marietta College in Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Chicago.
